Tallangalook Santa Gertrudis, Angus & Shorthorns
Well worth a second look
Do you want durable bulls bred in ticky tropical conditions, backed by elite genetics and data?
Look no further for your ideal F1 sire.
Tallangalook began stud breeding in 1998 and in the decades since has evolved and grown to now offer Santa Gertrudis, Angus and Shorthorn bulls - providing customers with flexible market options such as weaners feeders or bullocks. Calves born moderate which mature quickly and feature non-negotiable quiet temperament.
Santa Gertrudis
Tallangalook has quickly established a highly-successful Santa Gertrudis stud since buying foundation sire Waco M720 at Beef Australia in Rockhampton in 2018.
Having added almost 60 stud females from the renowned Rosevale herd - as well as a range of top-shelf sires - Tallangalook is now selling around 30 Santa Gertrudis bulls annually across a vast area of Queensland, stretching from Winton to Georgetown and into Cape York. Performance recording and genomics are central in ensuring detailed data is available for Tallangalook sale bulls.
Rosevale United U474 - Tallangalook’s latest homozygous polled (PP) sire purchased for $26,000 in 2024. First calves due Spring 2025.
Angus
Tallangalook launched its foray as Australia’s most northern Angus & Red Angus stud in 2025, building on more than two decades in experience breeding Bos Taurus cattle in FNQ.
The stud’s female herd was founded at the dispersal of the Yallambee Angus and Red Angus dispersal with cows purchased for up to $12.000. These Yallambee females and their bull calves were selected for suitability to the north and feature exceptional temperament structure and fertility.
Angus and Red Angus bulls have been turning heads at Tallangalook since the stud’s launch in mid-2025.
Shorthorns
Shorthorns stand alone in crossbreeding, forming the basis of 40+ breeds worldwide - Santa Gertrudis, Droughtmaster, Belmont Red, Murray Grey and Speckle Park to name some.
Tallangalook bulls will maximise hybrid vigour when used over Bos Indicus cows, producing exceptional F1 steers and fertile, maternal females. Increasingly, quality meat attracts quality price premiums, and Shorthorns rival the Angus breed for marbling and taste.

Our buyers’ feedback
“For many years at Melrose station we’ve run a program of using Shorthorn bulls over Brahman females. The Tallangalook sires we have bought have proven to be great additions, adapting well to our harsh conditions.”
— Jeff Mills, Morinish, Rockhampton, QLD
“We’ve bought both Shorthorn and Santa bulls from Tallangalook and the progeny in our herd has often topped the local markets. Butchers are always keen to secure our steers because of their meat quality and quiet temperament.”
— Ian Moller-Nielsen, Upper Barron QLD
“When we launched our Erin’s Home Shorthorn stud, we bought a group of Tallangalook females and a young sire, Prominent P34. Prominent has grown into a superb bull, producing top calves in our stud herd and across our commercial Droughtmaster females.”
— Leo Ward, Beaudesert, QLD
